I have been a News Editor, freelance writer, and photographer working for Consequence of Sound for over seven years. My work primarily involves seeking out, writing, and editing news stories, as well as securing exclusives by maintaining relationships with publicists and artists. In addition to being part of the daily news team, I contribute extensively to features (including the site's second-ever cover story "Jim James: Build it up Strong" and a monthly column Comics to Screen about developments in the superhero film genre), editorials, and concert and festival reviews. I do my own digital photography and editing, which led to my being named CoS' first-ever Photographer of the Year. I do extensive live photography as well as portraiture for featured stories. As a freelancer, I have extensively worked for both DC Comics and Comic Book Resources. At DC, I crafted back-copy for collected editions and trade paperbacks, including both modern and classic collections. With CBR, I was a contributing news editor; conducted interviews with actors, writers, and filmmakers; and covered New York Comic-Con. My work has also appeared in London in Stereo, Everfest, The Wild Honey Pie, the book I Got a Song: A History of the Newport Folk Festival, and elsewhere.Prior to working at CoS, I was an ESL Instructor for nearly 5 years. I earned my teaching accreditation from Oxford TEFL in Prague, CZ in 2009, and immediately went to work at ELS Language Centers in Newton, MA at Mount Ida College before transferring to the Manhattan-SoHo center in 2013.I hold a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing, as well as a minor in Fine Arts (Photography focus) from Hofstra University, where I graduated Cum Laude with Honors.
