Medical Quality Assurance Investigator
CurrentInvestigate complaints of alleged violations of Florida statutes and Board rules involving professionals under the jurisdiction of the Department of Health. Investigations include interviewing source, subject, and appropriate witnesses. Reviews Florida Statutes and Administrative codes, court records, medical records, and other essential documents. Conducts audits and inspections.Prepares comprehensive chronological reports of final, supplemental, and probation reports. Serve as a field-training officer as necessary.Conduct regulatory inspections of licensed health care facilities and establishments; maintaining a specified average of inspections (per month) involving licensed (pharmacies, physicians' offices, and dental laboratories) facilities/establishments. Coordinate with federal [Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)], state [Medicaid Fraud Unit, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)], and local (police departments, sheriff’s offices) and health care practitioners. Conduct supplemental and probation investigations including coordination with impairment program staff. Enforces the terms of Disciplinary Enforcement Requests and cooperates with Board staff members.
