Currently working as a PE teacher and teaching assistant, my job role covers all aspects of Physical Education and the national curriculum within the school. I have great experience working with all age groups, teaching a diverse range of physical activities across nursery, early years and primary years. I try to instil confidence in every child and give them enthusiasm for exercise/sport, regardless of their natural ability. I take a professional approach to the planning, preparation and organisation of lessons and activities. Part of my job is to support and mentor school teaching staff in the delivery of high quality PE and school sport. I plan and deliver a varied and interesting programme of physical and sporting activity, including intra and inter school competition, sports leadership training and healthy lifestyles programmes (Change4Life, This Girl Can). I have the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents. Within Physical Education I implement appropriate Health and Safety policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe, effective, child friendly environment in all lessons and activities. I am responsible for myself and others in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Keeping and maintaining current knowledge of National Curriculum, Governing Body and other relevant agencies, programmes, policies, guidance and advice. I am committed to continuous professional development (CPD) constantly bettering myself and my skills. I attend meetings as and when required/directed.

In this previous role I was able to teach Physical Education, Physical Activity and deliver Sports through coaching within allocated schools. I liaised with school staff and officers from the Sport, Outdoor Learning and Adventure Team to plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work and coaching programmes in accordance with the academic programmes set out by the schools. It was part of my job to keep up to date with government initiatives relating to the teaching of Physical Education & Sport and to also prepare policies and departmental targets when required. Maintaining and developing effective relationships with clubs, schools and other agencies to create school club pathways, to gain access to facilities. I supported primary schools to develop appropriate intra and inter school competitions and challenges to engage all young people in appropriate school competition. I also supported and promoted the events run by Oldham Sport Development and Disability Sports to ensure students have access to opportunities. I also found an importance in maintaining records to show rates of participation in events/competitions and programmes as well as implementing other data collection and monitoring programmes as directed by the Sport and Outdoor Learning.
