Management of 3 analysts to support the Buying teams deliver against product spend plans (£2.5bn budget p.a.).Responsible for European commercial analysis from global sourcing to support the Buying leadership in strategic decision making (FX & freight risks, lead time and liquidity challenges and Brexit impacts).

Management of 2 analysts to support the E-commerce division in their expansion plans (£100m sales, >30% growth p.a.)Responsibilities included review of the full P&L and Capex as well as providing the Leadership Team with weekly management information to aid trading decisions and control costsFinancial planning support for the annual E-Comm budget and 10 year long range planning cycles. All KPI’s from customer acquisition, Headcount and Sales through to net profit.Project finance support for a £30m investment in Digital IT replatforming and rollout of click and collect.

Tracking Sainsbury’s strategic cost reduction programme including periodic reporting to the programme management office and retail leadership team. Aiming to deliver £200m of savings in 15/16.Project finance support including business case preparation for the operating model cost reduction programme.New finance processes implemented to report savings performance resulting in better governance.

Post investment reviews of space, range and format changes, highlighting successes and opportunities for expanding investment into the rest of the estate or future store blue prints.Responsible for preparing and presenting the management accounts, headcount and long-term R&D spend plans.Implementation of a more rigorous financial discipline in the department, improving project manager accountability for budgets and preventing overspends that had incurred in the previous year.

Financial analysis of Sainsbury’s property investments, presenting results at Investment Review meetings on Investment decisions made from convenience to multi-site acquisitions (£<1m - £100m).Production of board papers for Investment Board meetings.Financial analysis, reporting and forecasting of sale and leaseback activity to meet business fund raising needs.Chair of fortnightly tax, accounting and property meeting to raise and discuss complex project issues.

Management of group capital expenditure against a budget of c. £100m, including monthly presentation of key capital spends to the Group Finance Controller and with production of the relevant Board paper commentary.Evaluation and sensitivity analysis on the groups banking covenants to ensure the group is not close to breach.Weekly management and reporting of cash flow, including presenting the current cash position and forecast of the next two weeks to the Group Financial Controller and Head of Treasury.Monthly forecasting of cash flow, including review of the group P&L and presentation of the updated forecast along with any risks and opportunities to the Group Finance Controller and Head of Treasury.

Monthly review of the logistics management accounts with an annual budget of £60m, including preparing the required accruals and prepayments, brand recharges and recommending any forecast changes.Monthly consolidation of brand logistics requirements, using the information for controlling the required levels of labour and transport.Monthly production and presentation of the Nominated Carrier Scheme accounts, a logistics revenue stream generating over £6m per annum.
