I recently completed a Master of Science in Information Security and Biometrics. Working in association with the SYSIASS project I am currently undertaking Doctoral studies at the University of Kent. I am utilising weightless artificial neural networks in the field of automated robot guidance with the objective of developing a fully autonomous wheelchair.

While studying towards my PhD, I have worked as a demonstrator for the my department. This involved helping the students understand what they are working on, working through problems they encounter, marking the students’ coursework and providing feedback. The job necessitates very good communication skills as I need to break down and explain complex concepts in order for the students to process and utilis e this information. The job requires a lot of enthusiasm, patience and drive in order to help students of all backgrounds achieve their full potential.

For my year in industry I worked for an IT Company in the USA. The role involved building and maintaining the company website, administrating the server farm and providing consultation and servicing to clients. I also worked towards my Microsoft certifications after hours and completed my MCSE 2003. I very quickly learned to manage my time effectively as the job regularly required working long or unsociable hours in order to reduce the amount of disruption caused on the clients systems. This also developed my ability to work within a team as we needed to identify the tasks required and split them according to the skillset we had on hand.
