Team Leader & Management: Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Systems, Network, and Desktop Support Teams. Infrastructure Architect: Responsible for IT infrastructure across five Data Centres, four offices and four states. Including resource planning, DR/BCP Management, regular Perimeter and Penetration Testing.Network Architect / Engineer: Responsible for Planning and Implementation of the Entire FinClear network. Including but not limited to internal Lan and Wan Connections, exchange trading connections, all firewall, switch, router and wireless connectivity as well as remote access.Cloud Architect / Engineer: Company primary cloud architect/engineer, main focus AWS, also incorporating O365/Azure Cloud Assets and the Atlassian Cloud presence. DevOps Engineer: I worked in close conjunction with the development team, i worked as one of the company’s primary DevOps Engineers with a primary focus on operations, deployment and application/system monitoring. This was largely focused around the HashiCorp range of products (Nomad/Consul/Vault/Terraform) as well as monitoring tools Prometheus/Grafana. The platform extensively utilized container technology and CI/CD using Gitlab.System Administrator: Required installation, management of Linux, Windows and Solaris servers including Extensive shell scripting and automation.Database Administrator: Primary Postgres Database Administrator, but also performed administration and SQL scripting for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.

Responsible for the day to day management of the Systems and Network Team - job scheduling, assignments, leave and overtime management.This is a global role that sees me, and my team, install and manage Linux and Unix systems in Australia and overseas.We work with global stockbroking firms where the pace is extremely fast, constantly changing, affected by outside elements and requires 24 hour support.This role includes extensive system patching and server management (including managing clients and their expectations/needs), custom application management and monitoring, shell scripting, cloud services management, network administration, Windows server administration, Exchange and Office 365 management.This is a complex, challenging and busy role that requires excellent attention to detail, customer service and constantly learning and working within the fast paced and persistently changing IT world.

My role at La Trobe University was constantly changing and growing.I managed a team of three system and network administrators who did everything from complex coding to cleaning spilled Coca Cola out of laptops.At La Trobe, I managed the Unix system, all network management, infrastructure planning, design and implementation, Windows server administration, system and application programming, web development, database administration, back up management and end user support for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering - I was also often asked to apply my knowledge and experience in other parts of the University.
