Sourcing Manager with primary focus on Direct Material Packaging

Primary responsibility included bottle, closure, label, and sugar.

Responsible for leading a team of professionals who specialize in domestic and import logistics. We collaborate with, and service, all six distribution centers within our network. Also responsible for all North America Transportation spend as well as implementing KPI (internal and external) and vendor relationships.

I am responsible for overseeing daily operation for multiple departments within the 515,000 sqft DC. These departments include E-commerce, Amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, Shipping office, Bulk Outbound, and the Training Department. I am tasked with finding ways to increase productivity while simultaneously decreasing cost. I constantly think outside of the box to promote change and to challenge my supervisors on better ways to run their areas. I am responsible for a number of monthly KPI benchmarks and ensuring that each department meets these benchmarks. Should an area not meet a monthly KPI, I am responsible for working with my area supervisors to implement a corrective action plan.

I was on the start up steering committee to develop an Ecommerce department as a new avenue to sell our product. I was selected from that group to lead operations. It is my primary responsibility to lead a staff to fulfill orders within our required shipping window for more than 30 customers. During my time in this position, I have made strides in efficiencies to reduce both our time in processing an order and our additional costs associated with processing these orders. I am also tasked with developing new packaging techniques to ensure that our product will not damage during the small parcel transit. I have developed over 200 solutions.In addition to my Ecommerce responsibilities, I also ship a weekly shipment of a big box retailer that averages over 10,000 pcs of product per week. I have also developed processes and efficiencies to speed this process up while simultaneously juggling our Ecommerce and Sample responsibilities.A couple of new responsibilities that I have been asked to take on in 2016 includes coordinating and leading a newly formed Training Committee and delving into Lean Manufacturing. I am currently studying all I can in order to be proficient in Lean Manufacturing which includes holding Kaizen events and leading my team through the six S principles. In my Training Committee we have already made a lasting impact on our company. We have created and implemented signage for our building, created curriculum and certified every vehicle operator in our building, and are in the process of developing curriculum to certify every person on every task we do in the building. This, in itself, should lead to a more knowledgable and dependable workforce.

My primary responsibility in this position was to maintain positive relations with our companies' factories overseas as well as find additional factories that would help to accommodate our needs as we grow into different product lines.In addition to sourcing new factories, I was also tasked with following product development project and bridging the language barrier between what the USA Sales Person was trying to accomplish and the way their Chinese counterpart interpreted the directions.
