I originally worked in the legal environment and thoroughly enjoyed the challenges that were posed, however since September 2016 my career has been in the financial services sector. I have a strong passion for all things finance and have enjoyed gaining valuable knowledge and experience in my current and previous roles. Working at NatWest provided me with the relevant experience and knowledge to undertake my current position as an Adjudicator/Investigator at the Financial Ombudsman Service. My role requires me to assess and investigate complaints brought by consumers against financial businesses. Liaising with both the consumer and the business, requesting and reviewing vital evidence, taking into consideration the relevant acts, laws and regulations in place, are a key part of my role. This is before coming to a formally written opinion on the complaint brought to me. I have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the finance, insurance and banking sectors. Dealing with complaints in a variety of fields has also allowed me to further my knowledge and I now have a through understanding of the Consumer Rights Act, the Consumer Credit Act and the Financial Conduct Authority’s handbook. My current casework includes me dealing with complaints on issues such as faulty goods bought using credit, Section 75 Consumer Credit Act Claims, travel, pet and motor insurance. This is in addition to buildings and contents insurance and a variety of complaints brought against banks and buildings societies. My role requires me to have great attention to detail as well as up to date, expert knowledge in many areas. I use a common sense approach and ensure that time is used efficiently, so I am able to keep to tight deadlines and service level agreements. I am honest and reliable with a strong work ethic. I am enthusiastic, willing to learn and strive to develop my skills continually. My communicational and interpersonal skills are exceptional and I pride myself on my ability to handle and resolve any problems which may arise. I am dedicated, determined and committed to ensuring that I give my all in everything I partake in. I endeavour to aim high and achieve higher.
