Born and raised in North Vancouver, Ben is Founding CEO of TreeCycle, and formerly Owner/Operator of Two Lions Tree & Landscape; with over 10 years experience as an Arborist, Wildlands Firefighter, Entrepreneur, and Circular Economy/BioTech/Wood Waste Expert.He has studied in BC Institute of Technology's Applied Biology Program, with a focus in Natural Resource/Environmental Protection and Urban Forestry, as well as at the University of Northern BC 's Natural Resources Management Program, and has a Wood Kiln Drying Certificate from University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Forestry: Centre for Advanced Wood Processing.In 2023, Ben was named as a Top 20 Under 40 for Canadian Forestry Professionals by Canadian Forest Industries Magazine. As well, Ben received an Honourable Mention from Canadian Biomass Magazine for 'Thought Leader of the Year Award' in 2024.Additionally chosen to be a Youth Delegate for the SFI/PEFC Annual Conference 2023 in Vancouver for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative + Project Learning Tree Canada, Ben helped to amplify the new 'Urban/Community Forests Standard for Sustainable Reuse' from SFI!Another note is being a Mentor for the UBC Forestry and BioEconomy Tri-Mentorship program, as well as a Green Mentor for Project Learning Tree Canada's Green Mentor Program. Ben was also the Site Monitor for the District of North Vancouver's Bylaw Monitoring Program. Having first hand experience with helping Contractors and Developers manage deconstruction processes and helping develop end markets for reused materials. Furthermore as a Director of the North Shore Streamkeepers (grassroots non-profit), he looks to further his voice as an environmental champion and advocate of Circular Economies as a member of the GreenTech Alliance, ZeroConstruct, the BCNZIN, and other associations!Additionally, he has a vast amount of experience working first hand with CRA Charitable Organizations while supporting his family business (FundRazr) in the FINTECH and Crowdsourcing/Crowdfunding sectors. That includes experience with charity/non-profit fundraising, organizational management & communication, and SEO/SEM + campaign/product development.He enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs, is an avid environmentalist whilst volunteering with local organizations like the Seymour Salmonid Society as a volunteer. He is actively involved with helping shape municipal and provincial legislation, and is seeking more avenues to help create climate action change!
