Ben Player founded Action Distribution Pty Ltd. with his business partner Dave Winchester. For the past 10 years Ben’s role as General Manager and Director has involved overseeing the entire business operational spectrum from achieving financial goals and KPI targets, and account management, to sourcing and manufacturing to freight logistics, all while ensuring efficiency and adherence to brand standards. Key part of Ben’s role is managing international manufacturer / supplier relationships and shaping new product development strategies and emerging market opportunities.Through Ben's experience at Action Distribution, he learnt the value of working on the business, compared to working in it, to continually refine business models and supply chain systems to increase success.

Surfers for Climate has a mission to empower and mobilise a sea-roots movement for positive climate action. Ben felt empowered to draw attention to climate change after a confronting visit to Mer de Glace, Chamonix in 2018. For those that have not attended Mer de Glace, it is ground zero for the visible impacts that climate change has had on the level of the glacier, so when Surfers for Climate was founded in 2019, Ben wanted to donate his brand and assist.

Ben continues to support entities that are trying to make positive impact. Take 3 for the Sea is an award-winning Australian charity on a mission to rid the oceans of plastic pollution through a simple and efficient strategy of educating coast communities to take 3 pieces of rubbish from the beach each time they visit. Ben has donated his time and brand to Take 3 for the Sea since it was founded in 2009.

In 2004 Ben co-founded Movement Magazine with Murray Bell from vanguard design studio Design is Kinky, later to become Semi-Permanent. Ben and Murray wanted to challenge the status-quo and publish a magazine that they felt would better represent the sport they loved – in the way they felt was right - so they threw their creativity, skills and money into some neatly bound pages and hoped for the best. Luckily the market rejoiced and Movement became an instant success. Ben become the sole owner of Movement ~2010 to allow Murray more time to focus on his other business endeavours. Movement continued to increase its brand through publishing an impressive 200+page hard cover book to capture the niche bodyboard market, the profits of the book funded a daily-digital outlet under Movementmag.com with a SVOD/TVOD platform under Movementmag.tv. A continuing decline in advertising and sales revenue within print publishing resulted in regretfully ceasing the print of Movement magazine in 2021 and is awaiting its next chapter in publishing.Through Ben's experience at Movement Media, his most valuable lessons were learnt in advertising sales, more specifically the value of communication and negotiation.

Ben Player grew up in Avalon, NSW, Australia and was introduced to bodyboarding when he was 10 years old. Ben is a 3 times IBA World Champion and a professional bodyboarder.Through Ben's successes as a professional bodyboarder, Ben experienced many highs and lows, with invaluable lessons taught, including the value of input and output, risk and reward, and to always trust your instincts.

Grand Flavour was the brainchild of Chad Jackson, Dave Winchester, Dave Wilcox and Ben Plater. The group of mates We wanted to create a positive brand for the bodyboarding market as at the time the general brand ethos was negative and submissive with names like NoFriends, Rejected and IAMNONE. Grand Flavour continues to have mild success, however, Ben, Dave and Dave parted ways with Chad Jackson.

Off the back of winning his 3rd world title, Ben was at cross-roads with his professional sporting career, he had won 3 x world titles, multiple peer and reader polls, and starred in a biopic titled 'The Ben Player Project', but he had a yearning to grow out of his comfort zone and decided there was no better way than to document an epic quest to challenge himself against some of the worlds most violent and dangerous waves in the far North of Europe during the freeze of Winter. The film was captured in stunning 4K and delivered with an original music score by the very talented Mickey Smith.Far Nørth is a 40 minute film that took Player five years to make, and the end result is an Action Sports film which is unlike any other. It takes the viewer on an epic journey that juxtaposes between the vast natural beauty of the North and Ben’s drive to push the limitations of his body, mind and sport, offering a dramatic insight into how far an athlete is willing to go to be the best.Far Nørth was filmed between January 15th - March 8th 2015, and released in October 2015.
