Ben is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with extensive experience working with children, families and adults in clinical, non-profit and education settings. He possesses a diverse skill-set including assessment, psychotherapy, group facilitation, clinical consultation, crisis intervention, research, teaching and education. As well, he has advanced training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (C-DBT), personality disorders, addictions, and trauma-informed care. Prior to his work as a social worker, Ben enjoyed an active career as a professional musician and a decade-long tenure as a middle school instrumental music teacher. His career as a trumpeter earned him a Juno nomination for “Best Traditional Jazz Album of the Year” with the Order of Canada Jazz Ensemble, multiple tours across Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and music consultant to Ethan Hawke in his portrayal of Chet Baker in the film “Born to be Blue” among other accolades and accomplishments. He continues to perform in ensembles across the GTA.
