I have worked in the quarry / mining industry for the past eleven years as a Mechanical Fitter. My previous trade was working as a Light Vehicle Mechanic. I was in this role for nine years, successfully completing a four year apprenticeship which started in 2004. In 2013, I changed career to a Mechanical Fitter for a more challenging role working in a heavier industry. The two trades combined give me more than twenty years of mechancal knowledge and experience.The duties of my current role working as a Mechanical Fitter include:> Conduct daily mechanical preventive mechanical inspections on various different types of equipment on site and report faults for repair on Sap> React to breakdowns onsite and repair as needed as an individual or part as a team> Fabricating, assembling and refurbishing crushers, conveyor systems, fixed and mobile plant within a workshop environment to manufacture drawings and specifications> Use precision measuring tooling to measure bearing shafts for accuracy and for machining requirements> Perform monthly site Mechanical Plant Inspections on concrete plants for preventative maintenence and provide reports to prioritise work needing carried out> Organise parts / tooling for workshop and site work > Installation of plant on sites throughout Australia such as asphalt plants, concrete plants, dryers, conveyor systems and comission after Install> Indentify and problem solve faults on production plants> Carry out shutdown work on various Mine sites throughout Australia> Adhere to health and safety ensuring a safe work place and create SWMS for every job task carried outI have many transferable skills which are required to work within this heavy industry. I am able to problem solve and I pay attention to detail, this ensures that I achieve a high standard of work at all times. I work effectively as part of a team as well as individually and I am able to communicate well with others. I work well under pressure in challenging, fast-paced industrial environments. I am highly experienced and confident in replacing and repairing motor / gearboxes, bearings, conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, wear plates, bucket elevator chains, dryers and crushers.Recently, I have perfomed higher duties as Site Supervisor which was working on a shutdown project over six weeks period being in charge of over twenty tradesmen. I organised their scope of work, created SWMS, organised tools and equipment, liased with the Project Manager and site management staff during the shutdown project.
