Industrialisation of current generation cell chemistries including high nickel NMC and LFP. Cell design considerations for final pack application and future-proofing for next generation technology.

• Electrochemical benchmarking of cell suppliers, considering rate capability, OCV vs SoC, pulse power, lifetime and fast charge on Maccor / Bitrode cyclers. Covering NCA, LFP, LMFP, Na-ion, NCM622, NCM811 w/SiOx anodes, NMx (Co-free) and Lithium-Ceramic solid-state cells.• Data elaboration and analysis using Excel / Matlab of the benchmarking data to generate tabulated / graphical data for PowerPoint reports.• Cell teardown and material extraction within a glovebox, including analysis of CT-scans to assist teardown, incision of cell casing, separation of internal components, electrolyte extraction and cleaning of samples for analysis. Completed on cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cells.• Material characterisation including the use of SEM / EDS, ICP-OES, AFM and TGA on the aforementioned chemistries.• Developing technology roadmaps for business cell strategy.• Liaising with suppliers and collaborating on test procedures to support benchmarking activities.
