About Ben Ripper

I am a Principal Policy Officer working in the Aboriginal Justice Transformation directorate, within the Strategic Reform Division of the Western Australian Department of Justice. My primary role is providing high quality secretariat support to the Department's Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee, which serves as its primary strategic Aboriginal community engagement mechanism.I have previously worked as a Native Title Anthropologist and Historian at the State Solicitor's Office in the Western Australian Government. I provided research support, analysis, reports and high level advice to Solicitor's conducting native title litigation and negotiation on behalf of the State of Western Australia.I have a passion for community development and I believe that the native title process can be an effective tool to empower Indigenous Communities and address the many inadequacies of previous government policy. I believe in agreement making. I believe that Government, Indigenous Communities and the private sector can come together and achieve lasting agreements the will be of benefit to all Australians.I am a passionate person with a drive to succeed. I seek to challenge myself and others in the work place to meet shared goals. I value learning above all else.I am a skilled researcher and an excellent writer.
