I used biological assays and analytical chemistry methods to evaluate the yield, titer, and productivity of engineered, production strains.Achievements:-Set up, maintained, and troubleshot over 100 biofuel, biochemical, and bioplastic fermentations-Characterized fermentation by-products using Gas Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, Elemental Analysis, and UV/Vis to measure alcohol content, perform colorimetric and kinetic enzyme assays, and estimate cell viability-Designed and implemented bench scale product purification unit operations including crystallization, distillation, continuous centrifugation, and tangential flow filtration-Performed microbiology laboratory tasks including PCR, DNA assembly, Protein Purification, Bradford Assays, Gel Electrophoresis, Pipetting, Titrating, Weighing, Centrifugation-Helped maintain laboratory inventory, patent database, and safely disposed of chemical waste-Helped company meet biofuel titer benchmarks set by Department of Energy ARPA-E program-Assisted company in receiving Government and Private funding by writing and reviewing grants-Created and organized lab protocols for new laboratory experiments and procedures
