I was approached by the CISO and asked if I would be interested in managing the Network and Voice Department full time. I gladly accepted as I believed that I could provide the direction and leadership to improve service and drive Anixter's network strategy into the next stage of its digital transformation journey. I am responsible for all areas of Network and Voice for Anixter, reporting to the CISO. I manage a small team of two engineers and also work closely with our managed services partner to oversee support activities. I'm responsible for Anixter’s Network and Voice architecture globally. This includes documenting existing architecture and working closely with the business to define Anixter's overarching strategy based on their requirements. I work with my counterpart tower leads to define projects based on this strategic direction whilst also implementing tactical changes where necessary to keep the business running. I work closely with all areas of the business to ensure that we are meeting their needs.

This role compromised of managing Anixter's 3rd party operational support company from a Network perspective, providing Tower Lead duties on a temporary basis until another resource was brought into the role and providing 3rd level operational support for both Voice and Network. I provided Network engineering support to the business for existing projects and new initiatives. I was also responsible for architectural direction and design.

This is a hybrid role, spanning 2 teams, combining Cisco routing and switching skills with Avaya and Cisco voice skills to configure, manage and maintain both the Anixter network and voice platforms globally. I am part of the voice team, providing 2nd/3rd line support to Service Desk for all voice issues, also owning support for EMEA and APAC. I use my technical expertise to continually improve our processes and implement changes to improve business functionality. Managing and delivering voice projects across the global business. My skills and work ethic have put me in the position of technical lead for the team, not only providing support to the rest of the team but documenting processes and providing training to get them up to speed on new technologies. I am also part of the network team, providing 2nd line support to Service Desk for all WAN/LAN issues globally, network monitoring, owning support for EMEA. I manage and execute projects and upgrades (circuit/hardware) across the EMEA region and design and configure any new deployments. I’m accountable to the regional IT VP for project ideas, continual improvement and deliverables across both roles.

Managing support of Anixter’s Avaya estate in EMEA and APAC. Working closely with Avaya partners, local colleagues and the user base on projects, determining the best solution for the business, and building up a rapport with all parties. Project management for time sensitive infrastructure projects, including but not limited to; System installs, upgrades and replacements, Site moves/new setups. Service Desk escalation point for all 2nd/3rd line Telecoms issues, including MACs (Moves, Adds, Changes) and Providing overflow 3rd line server support when required.
