I am a recent graduate from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s of fine arts and I feel my background as a theatrical scenic/lighting designer can bring new ideas to your creative team. Designing for theatre has taught me how to balance storytelling and create an effective use of space for people to interact.While in college, I participated in multiple productions as either a designer, associate designer, assistant designer, electrician, scenic carpenter, or scenic painter. As a scenic designer, I regularly have to design creative environments for productions and communicate with a team of crew members tasked to build set pieces. My experience as a lighting designer taught me inventive ways to light scenery and add to the aesthetic of the environment. In these positions, I consistently collaborated with various directors in other fields and practiced communicating ideas to a team of creatives.In my spare time, I create unrealized scenic designs to practice my skills as a designer. I regularly use Photoshop for concept art, Sketchup for 3d rendering, and Vectorworks for drafting in my design process. Through my experience, I found I can pick up new programs quickly and easily. In recent years, both my realized and unrealized designs have garnered awards from notable organizations such as KCACTF and USITT.
