Highly experienced and versatile data professional with a career spanning over 18 years working in large organisations, with turnovers of between £10 million in the UK, to £2 billion globally. Throughout my varied career I have always prided myself on my ability to make a difference and add value through the work that I do. As a trained accountant, I specialise in taking complex data sets, using Excel and software packages to verify and manipulate that data, and then translate to others, supporting them to make business decisions. Utilising my wide corporate accountancy experience and deep analytical skills, I provide transformative insight data driven solutions to complex problems. I am well versed in achieving this through sharing data insights and working with multiple stakeholders across all levels up to C-Suite, driving forward change and high success rates. In my last role, having only been in post for 5 months, I was able to successfully migrate the finance department across the country, in a shorter timeframe than required. This was achieved by taking a calm approach to solving challenges as they arose, leading from the front and working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.My calm and methodical approach also translates to my skills in leadership and management, supporting the development of others through high quality mentoring. Feedback from previous team members highlights this, stating my excellent skills in supporting others to learn, develop and grow. These are also skills I rate as important for myself; I am always keen to learn new things such as undertaking a course in SQL to learn more about this type of software. I have also learnt a variety of other software packages to aide me in my work, from budget forecasting and assessing this against actual spend, to audit management and VAT returns. Indeed, throughout my career I have worked with big data, often using spreadsheets of over 10,000 lines, and am well versed in manipulating data through using pivot tables. Early in my career I also used new technology to track phone data usage and make recommendations which resulted in a saving of £100,000 for the organisation. This is one of many examples where I have successfully used data insights to solve challenges, inform business decisions and strategic planning, adding value with the work I do.
