I am the founder and principal Architect of the international architecture firm UNStudio based in Amsterdam that designs and integrates human-centric tech solutions for the built environment. UNStudio was born in 1997 out of the Van Berkel & Bos Architectuurbureau, which Caroline Bos and I set up 10 years prior. Established as a network of specialists in architecture, urban development and infrastructure, UNStudio has grown to include more than 300 staff coming from 27 countries, working on projects around the world from our offices in Amsterdam, Austin, Dubai, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Frankfurt Our completed work includes the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Möbius House near Amsterdam, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Arnhem Central Station in the Netherlands, the Raffles City mixed-use development in Hangzhou, the Canaletto Tower in London and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Alongside my practice, I’ve lectured and taught at architectural schools around the world. From 2011 to 2018, I held the Kenzo Tange Visiting Professor's Chair at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where I led a studio on health and architecture. Central to my teaching is the inclusive approach of architectural works integrating virtual and material organisation and engineering constructions. In 2017, I also gave a TEDx presentation about health and architecture, and I’m currently a member of the Taskforce Team/Advisory Board Construction Industry for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
