Product Work: Developed a proprietary Vehicle File data product.This process involved collection of data from public sources (produced scripts to retrieve data from suitable sources), data cleaning to get the data into usable formatting, feature engineering to produce meta data fields from the raw data collected (tested to improve model performance), and finally using partial matching algorithms to match the additional data collected onto the core file for use by Insurance companies.This data product was taken from initial R&D stage to market during my time at Pebbles.Consultancy Work:Worked with a large multinational insurance company to implement improvements to pricing and risk models. This involved data cleaning and feature engineering to achieve high quality data to be used for the model training and then development of the GLM and GBM models using proprietary insurance software (Emblem and Radar) to output high performing models to fit in the company rate book.The impact of these improved models was more accurate pricing achieved for the company’s rate book.

This research project involved investigating the thermal properties of materials, more specifically the work we undertook was investigating the thermal conductivity of Noble Gas systems.This was achieved with software such as LAAMPS to conduct molecular dynamics simulations. The data retrieved from these simulations was then used to train different machine learning models based on various successful architectures listed in the literature. Python packages such as Tensorflow, Scikit-learn and XGBoost were used to create deep neural networks as well as gradient boosted decision trees in order to predict the temperature profiles of the simulated systems. The results from these models predictions were presented in a paper to the wider research team and were made available for further research performed by professor Hashibon’s material discovery research group.
