Having moved back to the UK from Norway in 1991, I was very fortunate to move into the world of Subsea and into BP's rapidly expanding interests in that area, particularly in the recently discovered fields West of Shetland. Within a couple of years, I had moved to Aberdeen and was working on the frontier project of first Foinaven (BP's first diverless development) and later the adjacent and larger Schiehallion development as a Subsea Project Engineer. I was very privileged to be intimately involved in Schiehallion from the early concept development phase as a concept / development engineer right through to first oil and beyond, latterly working as the Subsea Construction and Installation Manager for all the vessel activity.Since 2000 I have worked in a range of leadership roles primarily on Subsea Projects or with Subsea or global project teams. Although in 2005-2007 the Harding Area Gas Project did not go ahead, I subsequently worked hard to keep a key component of that Project, Devenick, alive as a potential ‘stand-alone' project. Ultimately, I lead a project team that took that HPHT prospect to Sanction.Having voluntarily left BP last year, I am currently using my Subsea Engineering and Project Management skills in a new direction, namely in a part time Renewables role helping to develop to commercialisation a novel, patented design of Subsea Tidal Turbine. Despite this new direction, however, I would still be interested in part time Subsea roles in Oil and Gas.In summary I am a team player with good organisational, communication, finance and mathematical skills. I also have strong Project Management, team leadership and planning skills. I am logical and like challenges and problem solving and am much happier in a Project environment than in an ongoing 'operational' role.
