But navigating the ins and outs of mortgages, insurance, SMSF withdrawal policies, and so on can be extremely difficult, especially when it feels like no one’s telling the truth. Well, I set out to be different, to be an honest and transparent voice that spoke up for my clients. And so, the FYI Group was born, a business that would help Australians navigate the maze of buying and refinancing property.In 2004, a co-director joined the business and over two decades FYI Group grew and expanded - we built up quite an empire, with a total of 22 staff. In 2013, we changed our trading name as part of a national roll-out to join other brokerage groups with one banner – the Astute Financial brand.In the same year I changed the backend processes and operational procedures, as well as taking on the franchise of Harcourts Dee Why for our existing business FYI Property, uplifting technology and systems integrations that only an global real estate brand could provide. After a successful 13 years, we chose to refocus growth on our other businesses, selling Harcourts Dee Why in 2018.It was great, but hard work, and it moved me too far away from what I love, being at the coalface with clients.
