This year, I've started a program from the ground that will place two paid staff on trails this summer to provide outreach to the public, lead interpretive hikes, maintain trails, clean up campsites, and facilitate volunteer opportunities. My role included day-to-day scheduling and execution of roles and duties, planning ahead for supplies, guest relations, and also having a foundation for unexpected events. The staff of nine stays at the remote camp all summer, and so managing social structure within the crew was critical to avoiding conflict and burnout.
