I’m a writer and editor living in Tucson, Arizona. As a journalist, my work has appeared in Newsweek, The Boston Globe, The Christian Science Monitor and The New York Times. I'm the editor of the English edition of the Italian newspaper il manifesto. I’ve worked on staff at the Bangkok Post, the South Florida Sun Sentinel and the Naples Daily News. As an editorial consultant, I’ve collaborated with a number of publications and NGOs, including UNHCR, Transparency International and Publish What You Pay. In 2014, I founded Latterly, an independent magazine reporting on human rights, politics and conflict. Our work has been co-published with and talked about by Newsweek, Smithsonian Magazine, VentureBeat, the Columbia Journalism Review and others.In January 2018, I began working as a copywriter and then head of content for Proton, the privacy-focused internet platform. In March 2020, I launched The Portager, a newsletter for Portage County, Ohio. The company has grown to over 8,500 subscribers, and we publish multiple newsletters in Northeast Ohio. In 2023, I rejoined Proton as editor on the content team.Along with my wife, a human rights attorney, I’ve previously lived in Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Jordan and Italy.
