I am currently working as Head of Site Reliability Engineering at BCB, a fantastic company aiming to connect the banking and global crypto industry. My role here is to help expand on the already great systems and process, to empower the global financial revolution through sustainable and innovative banking. More code, deployed by more people, in to production. Faster. Safer.Previously a Distinguished Engineer at Lab577, exploring the use of Distributed Ledgers and blockchains to disintermediate existing centralised business models with decentralised applications. Including 2.5 years consulting at SDX. I’ve been a DLT specialist since late 2014. Prior to this, I spent 12 years at RBS. 3 years in Emerging Technology where we played with many ways of innovating at scale in the bank - AR, VR, Quantum, Chatbots, Blockchains... Before that 9 years working on the distribution aspects of several grid based pricing systems (DataSynapse, Coherence etc), and the 10 years before that at various consultancies including Thoughtworks, Deloitte and Andersen.I like to describe myself as a pragmatic agilist. I've been programming since the mid-90s – many years of Java, but more recently we have also been using Javascript, Swift and Kotlin.I value trust over process - allowing people to do things for themselves and removing barriers to change. I like getting on with people, making systems better, doing the right thing in the right place, problem solving and I'm very much still learning. :-)
