Having never created software for use by anyone other than myself, I was naïve and believed that I could have an application ready for data entry in a week and the full application built out in less than a month. The leadership team loved that because we only had about 4 months to go before the Olympics. In reality, the work needed a team of software engineers working for 6 months to a year. I got it done by myself in 3 months, with data entry available in about a month.I started by interviewing the different teams to assess needs. I put together wireframes and won buy-in before proceeding with development. Under incredible time pressure, I delivered this project incrementally based on urgency of features for different teams, ultimately completing it just in time.The startup succeeded in its efforts, providing quality housing and meals, staffing every planned worksite and returning better than anticipated financial results.
