This role involves hands on supporting of women as they gain the skills to become becoming breastfeeding counsellors. The key goals of the programme are understanding the basics of effective communication, active listening and skills to run local groups including: • Keeping the local group financially buoyant through a constant membership drive • Sustainable fundraising • Helping new counsellors to understand the importance of the national and international organisation through its policies and standing rules

• Facing the challenging decision to close our office and move to a virtual space• Reviving an income generating strand of LLLGB’s education work and negotiating with third parties for their input and experience• Working to implement a plan of radically increasing the charity’s exposure via social media• Working closely with the Department of Health, NHS and Public Heath England on shared projects• Overseeing the management of the helpline, phone messaging and online messaging service, given limited volunteer hours• Instilling the concept of small working groups reporting back to the Board resulting in quicker and more thorough decision making• Carefully handling negotiations with international parent organisation in the USA, resulting in a reduction of the annual fee we pay, making a huge difference to our bottom line• Liaising with other worldwide affiliates when faced with critical issues administratively, and where possible incorporating the strategies which have been successful elsewhere• Creating a Trustee Code of Conduct to ensure that all Trustees operate with the same focus, ethical agenda and with the same respectful tone of communication, within the recommendations of the Charity Commission’s best practice guidance• Ensuring there is smooth communication with outside bodies such as the DOH, NHS, Public Health England, NICE, UNICEF and other organisations via LLLGB’s PR Department

Volunteer with those who reach out for support via meetings, calls, one to one visits and online support: • Co-leading a local support group covering Hertfordshire • Engaging in fundraising for our local group, as well as the national organisation • Working with local health professionals to raise the standard of support in the community• Gaining experience managing my life as a mother, homeopath and home educator to ensure that I could meet the needs of those who depended on me whilst pursuing my passion for helping families in those precious early years
