Senior Satellite Systems Engineer
As a senior satellite systems engineer, I was responsible for the overall health and day-to-day operation of a fleet of Boeing and Thales Alenia satellites, a role which included developing contingency command procedures, analyzing extensive telemetry data to troubleshoot problems and predict future performance and events, and leading time-critical recovery operations (at all hours of the day or night) for serious satellite anomalies. Through this, I developed innovative solutions to accommodate subsystem issues caused by unexpected hardware failures, such as new techniques for battery charging and momentum management, while also streamlining procedures provided by the manufacturers to reduce the risk of human error.A second key aspect of my role was to prepare for the operation of newly launched spacecraft, a process which involved working on cross-functional teams to develop and validate new procedures, create telemetry display pages, and design efficient database structures. For our newest satellites which were to use a brand new commanding system, I defined and developed satellite system and subsystem requirements, created test plans, conducted thorough acceptance tests, and teamed with developers to resolve issues.Beyond these primary responsibilities, I took initiative to address numerous inefficiencies in our work flow; designing, developing, and implementing software solutions to automate formerly manual processes, including extremely complex procedure language conversions (Boeing XML to ARES {a form a tcl} and SPELL {a form of Python}), limit alarm updates, and maneuver plan management tools.
