Ben was born into the jewellery industry; Ben's late father Kurt Albrecht acquired the iconic Melbourne jewellery business Kozminsky in the late 1960's, which has been held by the Albrecht family up until 2012. Ben started his apprenticeship in the jewellery industry by travelling to Japan in 1989 and working for the Cultured Pearl Export Company, Tokyo in international export. Arriving back in Melbourne, Ben continued his employment in the Arts by gaining a position with Leonard Joel Auctioneers. For six years at the auction house, Ben became a licensed auctioneer and valuer. Ben returned to Kozminsky in the late 1990's, and in 2003 acquired the business with another family member; holding the position of Managing Director, Ben oversaw the first floor Art Gallery, holding numerous successful exhibitions; the last being Angus O'Callaghan, a photographer Ben discovered in 2009 which resulted a staggering $250,000.00 in sales to date, both in the primary and secondary markets. Directing Kozminsky over 9 years profitably in both jewellery and art was an achievement that Ben is extremely proud of, and will look back at his years at Kozminsky with fond memories. In June, 2012, Ben retired his share in Kozminsky to start a business (like his late father Kurt), and that business is Ben Albrecht Jewellery. Ben's desires and goals are for his clients, both in what they buy and a service that is personalised from the beginning to the end. All personal aspects in jewellery design and workmanship is what the foundations Ben Albrecht Jewellery was built on. Ben focuses on handmade, one-off bespoke pieces that are made with the clients wishes and budget in mind.
