BHA Enterprises Limited was an exciting company to work for based on the entrepreneurial and dynamic nature of the business. They manufacture and import niche and innovative products, and sell to both trade and retail customers in the UK. My role as Purchasing Manager consisted of strategically choosing the right products, sourcing, quality control, importing and branding (in some cases). I also had a involvement in marketing and selling the products through various advertising and online channels. The venture has enabled me to participate in business on an international level, communicating with many overseas suppliers and manufacturers. It has also broadened my understanding of both product innovation and branding, which remained pivotal to the success of the imports.

I had the opportunity to become involved in the setting up of a new business in Cyprus. As part of a team, our role involved turning a plot of land into a fully-fledged rally track and then to promote the ‘Drive a Rally Car’ experience to both locals and tourists. I learnt how useful networking can be and the whole planning process allowed me to improve my leadership, organisational and decision-making skills, as well as exercising an analytical and critical approach to a new project.

My interest in finding a unique work experience and enthusiasm to undertake a new challenge led me to purchase an ice cream van after my first year at university. The main objective was to run a profitable project but it also proved to be a valuable learning experience in the world of business.
