It was my responsibility to manage the twenty clients in my program as well as three employees. I worked with at-risk youth to find subsidized employment (as well as minimize or eliminate barriers to that employment) and to gain or continue their education. I approached businesses to ask them to take one of my clients as subsidized employees paid by Goodwill for eight to ten weeks. After their stay at the business they are encouraged, but under no responsibility, to hire the client on a permanent basis. In addition to seeking employment, I also aided them in acquiring job skills such as resume and cover letter writing, online application navigation, and mock interview practice. All of these skills are taught in a classroom setting administered by myself and staff.In regards to aiding in the clients education, we partnered with the Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program to help the children gain their GED. In cases of clients already having their GED or High School Diploma, I aided them in registering to colleges or trade schools and researching possible career choices they wish to pursue there.

It was my responsibility to manage volunteer phone banks in Summit County during the 2010 mid-term elections. I reported to the regional field director, Josh Brickner, and worked on average 80-90 hours a week. I was required to recruit volunteers to help at phone banking events I ran daily and to keep track of all volunteer activity through an online database called VoteBuilder. In addition, I helped organize and staff political events such as Vice President Biden coming to Akron University and former Governor Strickland speaking at the Summit County Democratic Party headquarters. I learned valuable time management skills as well as the ability to thrive under the pressure of a tight deadline.
