This research is focused on developing a pollinator network centered around a threatened plant species in order to quantify its importance. After a month of fieldwork in Door County, WI, the analysis continued at the Garden headquarters. The work involves pinning and labeling insects, creating pollen sample slides, and generating a database of interactions.

Devised a technique alongside a graduate student to allow construction on planet Mars by developing a form of concrete utilizing Martian soil cast into beams. After a general formula was settled, further tests were performed to narrow down the optimal ratio of ingredients for the concrete. Specific chemical reactions were researched and tested to ensure that the concrete could perform under varying Mars conditions.
