Ben Basem is a documentary filmmaker, sound recordist, and piano technician. His work seeks to identify who people are by burying real events within their sensory experiences, leaning towards subjective perception rather than objective truth. In the field, Ben has filmed the 2021 Buffalo mayoral race, the Indy 500, city-wide nurses union strikes, a NYE giant pierogi drop, a tornado-stricken Kentucky town, a quaint boardwalk date on Coney Island, court evidence for a disability case, nurse union lobbying trips at The Illinois Sate Capitol, and a South Dakota bomb bunker pepper community. His directorial debut, Conversations Between Shifts, has been showcased in museums, galleries, and over a dozen international film festivals.
