In charge of developing the Environmental and Health Safety protocols to ensure a safe workplace for all researchers, scientists, and office personnel. Creating training programs to create a compliant workplace for all staff along with Standard Operating Procedures for compliant analytical department. In this position, I am also responsible for maintaining facilities, instrumentation, and the printers that make up the core of the company. Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory for proper synthetic experimentation, polymerizations, and writing of papers/articles for publication. Wet lab manager of multiple graduate and undergraduate students. Keeping order during a very diversified research group and maintaining safety, organization, and compliance. Support of graduate students in their respective projects. Developing new monomers and polymers for multiple applications.-Developing new antimicrobial polymer systems for 3D printing of biocompatible components.-Kinetic analysis of thermal transitions for multiple thiol and acrylate systems.-Creating regressions and equations for predicting thermoplastic transitions depending on component compositions.

To take on multiple projects to develop new polymers, processes and overall materialswhile maintaining cutting edge analytics. Support other graduate students by helpingout in analyzing and processing materials.; Developed processes for creating microspheres of hydrogels for signal processing ofthe nervous system in conjunction with Southern Methodist University. Developed new processes of thermally creating fibers of acrylic fibers for carbonfibers, sutures for wound healing, and for supercapacitors. Created new analysis of thermal decomposition of polymers by conjunction withmass spectroscopy and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in parallel. Synthesized new monomers to be used as plasticizers for reducing viscosity ofpolymer melts.

Development of bottom-up approaches for new polymer based microparticles with well defined shapes/morphologies. Chemistries include click reactions with copper catalysis, thiol-ene radical polymerization, and microencapsulation with surfactant templating.

Researched new uses of bio-based waxes that can be used in the production of new“natural” candles to be sold by Elevance, LLC while also developing high performancewaxes to be used in the tire and cosmetics industries.; Outcomes: Created the recipe and processing required for natural bio- based candle waxes. Developed and processed multiple types of high performance waxes with varyingproperties for their specific applications.

Was hired on as a co-op intern for the summer of 2007 then remained on staff for theduration of my undergraduate career. Responsibilities included developing newalternative textiles finishes that retained performance while being compatible with newenvironmental regulations.; Outcomes: Replaced all formaldehyde containing textile finishes with an environmentallyfriendly alternative while retaining the necessary stiffness and performance. Replaced all C8 fluorocarbon containing textile finishes with alternatives whileactually increasing the overall water and oil repellency for the end product.
