As the Strategic Capability Manager I am responsible for ensuring that the Digital, Data and Technology department delivers positive, impactful change that transforms us into an outstanding force. I now deploy our Projects & Programmes team, our Business Analysts, and our Innovation Lab to assess our needs, prioritise development, and define a roadmap for digital transformation.

I managed the analysis function within Business Change & Innovation, guiding our Business Analysts and ensuring they are deployed in the best way possible to reveal business needs and create sustainable change. I was also responsible for kicking-off our Innovation team, who own a pipeline of agile initiatives to make small but profound changes to the way the Constabulary works, and foster a culture of problem-solving and creativity.

I worked as part of the Business Engagement team in Information Services to deliver technology projects aligned with the Force's strategic priorities. I led the mapping of project stakeholders, investigation of problem root causes, elicitation of high- and low-level requirements for solutions, and provided assurance to senior stakeholders to inform decisions to improve, purchase and retire technologies.

I kept track of technology developments, and worked with researchers to capitalise on new opportunities to use technology to do cutting-edge research. I offered guidance in relation to research bids integrating digital technologies, and carried out strategic work matching the requirements of the Faculty of Science to the digital capabilities of the University, helping to target central funding at improvements needed to continue producing innovative, internationally-leading research.

Working at Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute (https://www.horizon.ac.uk/) and Mixed Reality Laboratory (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/mixedrealitylab/). I conducted cutting-edge academic research into human-computer interactions, especially around technologies that encourage environmental sustainability and engagement with cultural heritage. I built on an understanding of the drivers of human behaviour and cognition, as well as the technical constraints and development possibilities of mobile, web and IoT.I was also responsible for the development of VisitorBox, a toolkit that embeds design thinking principles and domain knowledge of the cultural and creative sectors into a card game. This product was used by large and small organisations in the UK and Europe to generate ideas for new visitor experiences and ways of engaging the public.
