Learning And Development Manager
Finding my purpose. My why. Clocked up 4,000 hours of training and coaching delivered. In this role, I looked after around 200 consultants in the early stages of their careers. Typically between 12 months and 5 years experience. Training focused on three levers:#number of opportunities worked% percentage of opportunities converted (roles filled)£ placement valueI wrote over 30 courses covering these areas along with soft skills ranging from "time and productivity" to "motivation and commitment". The role also saw me travel the country and I used the opportunity to read a huge library of books and listen to hundreds of hours of podcasts deepening my sales education and understanding.

Having sworn I'd never go in-house - (I loved sales too much) - this move was a curveball but, I couldn't turn down the opportunity. In managing my own PSL I was exposed to the good the bad and the ugly of agency recruitment. I received 20 sales calls a week and endured a lot of terrible meetings. Coming out of the 07-08 crash. Markets still recovering. This role was all about BD. I was slowly becoming an effective salesperson. Learning discipline and consistency like never before. Started using cadences and cold calling techniques for the first time. Even putting letters in the post at the end of every week. Getting my ass kicked in WIP meetings: going in with what I thought was a £200k pipeline only for Gavin or Lee to break it down to rubble. "Browning... Back on the phone!" This place wasn't a boiler room but it was hard graft and I loved every minute of it.
