Head of Policy and Legislation for the Department of Health and Social Care in the Isle of Man.Recent achievements include being responsible for, and leading on the following items of policy and legislation:a) the Regulation of Care (Amendment) Act 2020;b) the Children and Young Persons (Amendment) Act 2020;c) the Medicines (Amendment) Act 2021;d) the Adoption Act 2021; ande) the Capacity Act 2022.Presently I am leading on the regulatory framework for the Island’s health and social care services and non-cosmetic surgical procedures.Co-managed 20 staff within the Secondary Legislation Team to deliver secondary legislation, drafting instructions for primary legislation and managing the legislative process for Departments (mainly DHSC and DOI) within agreed timescales.Led on high priority legislation (e.g. Brexit, CoVID lockdown, COVID vaccination rollout and the Capacity Act) to deliver the DHSC's legislative programme/ Island Plan.Produce schedules of work to ensure legislative programme development work is completed within agreed timescales.Scope, research and draft agreed legislation, taking into account existing legislation both in the Isle of Man and the UK which may be relevant.• Develop effective working relationships within the Attorney General's Chambers and with Departments to ensure that all legislation complies with Government requirements and is fit for purpose.• Provide legislative expertise and advice, particularly to the Chief Executive and Directors of the Department of Health and Social Care.
