I had the pleasure of working on a team with Ben on two machine learning projects. The first of these projects was centered around creating recommendations to home-owners on cost-effective ways to increase the value of their house, home builders on the best options for lots to build on, and home buyers to pinpoint houses below market value based on their attributes. The second of these projects was a collaboration with Markerr, a real estate analytics firm, to analyze urban real estate markets in the US and the effects of COVID on those markets in order to ultimately lend insights into the supply and demand dynamics in the real estate market to improve valuation accuracy and strengthen ROI. Throughout these projects, Ben utilized numerous machine learning techniques including MLR, Lasso, XGBoosting, Decision Trees, Random Forest, and SVM. On top of his technical skills, Ben was a pleasure to work with as an individual and teammate. Even during a tense technical conversation, Ben has the ability to brighten up the room (or Zoom meeting) and put a smile on everyone’s face, while also providing valuable insight into any conversation. I hope to one day have the pleasure with him again as Ben is a great asset and personality to have on any team."
