Starting as a newcomer, I quickly evolved into a confident and accountable contributor, leaving a lasting impact on our projects. As part of a product team, I worked together with people from various departments such as Designers, QA associates, DevOps engineers, Project Managers, and more.My team was responsible for the Domain Management feature set and Cloudflare integration of Kinsta's React-based SaaS platform. I worked with modern technologies such as React, Node.js , Typescript, GraphQL and more. I learned to navigate in a huge codebase equipping me with critical architectural thinking while keeping clean and effective code.Apart from developing our features in the React/Typescript based web application, I contributed greatly to a few services written in Node.js with Typescript. My work on these was backend focused and I had the opportunity to learn about core GCP Cloud Technology concepts and practises such as communication between services with messaging queues (Pub/Sub), releasing new versions of services (Cloud Deploy) and navigating through logs of multiple services running in separate environments (dev/staging/prod).Besides my regular development responsibilities, thanks to my pro-active efforts, I had the opportunity to be feature owner of some of our projects. This meant that I was the contact person if there was any issues or feature requests regarding the respective area. A great way to get a taste of leadership by working on communication, debugging and task delegation.Another noteworthy experience I gained is production deployments. As part of the deployment rotation, I released new versions of the company’s flagship product. What this meant is leading a pre-deployment testing with the QA team and developers involved following by ssh-ing into the production host machine and reloading the instances.Besides technical skills I learnt a lot about how to provide meaningful feedback in form of code reviews making me a valuable team member.
