Primary School Teacher
Probationer Teacher at Gallowhill Primary in a P2 class. My main duties included planning, preparation and delivery of lessons for the class whilst taking into consideration the diverse needs of all learners. There was a particular pupil with challenging needs and from the first day, it was apparent that I would need to be adaptable in my teaching approaches. I researched information on attachment disorder and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and with the advice of my DHT implemented strategies to enable inclusion for the pupil. I worked closely with the Nurture Team and sought their advice on many occasions, therefore, I used a very nurturing approach, created a time out area, and introduced achievable rewards. I also attended a de-escalation and personal safety course which enabled me to be more equipped to deal with incidents and ensure the safety of all the pupils in the class. During my classroom experience, I was involved in or facilitated the following – • Attended Big Writing course• Working party for peer moderation for writing• Supported children with ASN such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, gender issues and ODD• Reporting on pupils progress at parents nights, attainment meetings and end of year reports• Designed spreadsheets to colour code assessment data on literacy and numeracy• Using ICT and Digital resources on a daily basis within my classroom• Group leader of The Learning Council (Studying HGIOS 4)• Group leader of Golden time fitness club• SEAL trained in NQT level and post NQT for numeracy in the first level• Leader of after-school club teaching software coding (Digital Extra) • Partner in an HMI re-inspection working collaboratively with the whole school to pass all of my class targeted assessments
Sales Assistant
My sales assistant position involved working with all age/gender and level of knowledge of the customer. This was an extremely fast-paced role, especially around festive periods and midnight releases which could have a maximum of 4 staff running the flagship store in Scotland. The role demanded high organisational skills, the ability to multitask, manage aggressive situations and be able to achieve upwards of 9 monthly targets. There were never commissions on any sale so providing the best customer experience was my top priority. Due to my successfulness at being able to control such situations as money management/cashing up at night, working with others and exceeding every daily target I was given the chance to become a representative for Microsoft for all Scottish GAME stores. I would travel around the country training members of staff in the latest Microsoft product. When it came to the festive periods I would need to manage and interview new temporary staff which involved contacting, questioning, training and deciding whether they were going to join the staff at the end of their time.• Dealing with customers face-to-face, over the phone and via email• Assisting customers with finding suitable products or services• Handling payments and processing returns, refunds and exchanges• Dealing with customer feedback, concerns and complaints• Dealing with stressful situations and emergencies in a professional manner, and ensuring that customer’s concerns are promptly addressed• Liaising with suppliers and external companies on a regular basis• Assisting the Store Manager with their day-to-day activities• Ensuring that the store is in a clean and tidy state at all times• Training and supervising new members of staff• Entering and maintaining data into databases and information systems• Coordinating and organising sales and promotions events• Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are adhered to at all times
Sales Assistant
This was my first job starting when I was 19, here I learned many roles handling delivery orders, processed cash transactions and helping any customer with any need. As I progressed we gained on many new employees, to which I jumped at the chance to teach and assist 5 new team members.• I started off as a Trainee, then progressed to a Supervisors's Assistant.• Leader duties included giving in-store meetings, processing waste (making sure no money was lost) and locking up the store.
