Benjamin Chu earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with the Biomedical Option and Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering, both from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Ben joined the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Sponsored Research (UCLA OIP-ISR) in 2007 before moving to UCI Applied Innovation in 2017. As a Licensing Officer, Ben is responsible for managing a portfolio of UCI intellectual property, reviewing invention disclosures for patentability and commercial potential, securing patent rights, marketing technologies to industry, facilitating the commercialization of UCI technologies for the public benefit, negotiating and drafting license and inter-institutional agreements, and guiding UCI faculty and students through the patenting and commercialization process.
