Ben Cron has been enthralled by technology from an early age. His interest dates back to the caveman days of the 8-inch floppy disk and pre-internet. He has built and repaired multiple computers from the ground up, including hardware and OS/Software installations.At some point Ben was reading about the latest cybersecurity breach in the news and became upset. He thought, "Certainly there are people who are watching out for these things. There must be teams of people at the helm." As it turns out, there weren't nearly enough people in the field. At this point, Ben began to believe he would be able to perform a small portion of the work needed to be done.But he had to learn. He had already attained a Bachelor's degree from Ohio University in a technical, yet non-computer related field. Choosing a more independent track, he began to teach himself the skills required.Using certifications as a learning path, he passed the CompTIA Network+ to learn how computers talk to one another. Then passed the CompTIA Security+ to lay a solid ground work of security concepts and procedures.Realizing certifications could only get him so far, he gained practical experience by attacking vulnerable machines on hacker websites… • Hack The Box - Ranked 500 out of over 670,000 users • Try Hack Me - Top 7% out of over 1,000,000 users • Ine Security - Training paths in both Junior and Professional Penetration TesterHis interest in Bug Bounty Hunting became piqued by participation on Bug Crowd, where he built his own automated reconnaissance system in the cloud.Building out his Home Lab with virtual machine of various operating systems and consistently absorbing skills from vast online resources has allowed Ben to continually up his game. He shows no signs of stopping.
