About Ben Crough

Born and raised in a country town my life experiences have lead me to working in some amazing locations with people from different backgrounds and challenges. After completing my Pharmacy degree I made the move to WA where I worked for a number of years impacting on quality supply of medication to people living in the remote Kimberley. I was fortunate and exposed to some of the harsh realities our first nations people face whilst I ran the pharmacy attached to the Wirrika Maya AMS in Port Hedland WA. Despite loving my work and the patients I impacted each day when I can out gay in this mining town it was time for me to do something selfish and move to the city to experience something different.Currently working as the Community and Inclusion Practice Lead for Australian Unity which is my third role at this 180 year old company, I have continued to support those that need assistance. I was fortunate to continue my pharmacy at Australian Unity as a Diabetes Health Coach/ Consultant for one of their pharma programs and then was operations coordinator for our Home and Disability Services business before being promoted to my current role. The past few years at Australian Unity have allowed me to impact in so many areas making sure customers, my colleagues and the wider public have greater wellbeing in life.Despite a varied career one thing has stuck true! I am passionate about helping those who need assistance. I have always loved helping people whether that be in health, disadvantage, minority groups or those having a tough time. Some moments that stick out for me include starting the Australian Unity Pride Network, implementing an inclusive Domestic and Family Violence Policy, playing an active role in closing the gap and advocating for LGBTIQ and Rural and Remote people in different forums. In my current role I manage our community (charity) partners, our employee impact into community work like WPG and volunteering, promoting workplace inclusion and building greater Employee Wellbeing.I welcome connections with people who are open for a chat and coffee particularly on Diversity and Inclusion or any other opportunity that leads to discussions around supporting peoples wellbeing.BenHe/Him
