- Managing the University’s space utilisation surveys, including the University’s first 11 week teaching space survey.- Analysing large data sets and creating space reports for senior stakeholders, particularly focussing on improving the University’s utilisation of space.- Reporting and presenting at the University’s space management group that includes the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Director of Estates and Head of Colleges.- Managing the Timetabling and Space Department, including the selection interviewing and training of staff. - Creating and deploying a timetabling and space strategy focussed on improving timetabling practices and space utilisation. - Managing and developing the University’s central timetable using the timetabling software: Syllabus +. - Organising and presenting meetings with senior stakeholders, to discuss and negotiate space related projects and enquiries as well as maintain a strong communication channel.- Maintaining the University’s space database using CAFM software, this includes managing a web based space return and training College Space Representatives.- Developing and implementing the University’s space strategy and creating a space request document to manage all types of space requests.- Space planning for the new Science and Innovation Campus, this includes regular communication and meetings with stakeholders .- Ensuring that all proposed refurbishment/building projects meet the University’s space norms and avoid unnecessary disturbances to students and staff. - Developing the University’s teaching space using staff and student feedback.

As an Estates Consultant, I managed the space utilisation and functional suitability surveys for Universities and Colleges throughout the UK. During this time I developed my skills in time management and organisation to ensure that every project was completed to the highest standard within demanding time frames. This involved - Liaising with estate departments and senior staff to establish survey specifications. - Creating job adverts and interviewing applicants on a one to one basis. - Preparing surveys by creating detailed routes containing instructions and plans. - Training surveyors ensuring they are confident and aware of their responsibilities, as well as health & safety measures and fire procedures. - On site start up and management of surveyors during the survey week, ensuring that all surveyors are performing their tasks to the required standard. - Data analysis of large data sets using Microsoft Excel as well as CAFM software. - Designing and writing detailed reports providing recommendations on how the client can improve their space utilisation and/or functional suitability rate. - Carrying out various technical surveys including, DDA, condition, and fire regulation - Creating an accurate plan of the University’s future space needs for an estate strategy.
