Project TechnicianFlinders University - Coast And Clean Seas Project Sep 1999 - Oct 2000Based in Port Lincoln, South Australia, the project was designed to minimise impacts of wastewater generated from the local fishing industry on marine and sewage outfall systems. In addition a water reuse scheme was to be developed using water from industry in the township of Port Lincoln including the fishing industry. Activities included determination of the quality and quantity of trade wastewater produced by fish processors and the potential impact on the local wastewater treatment plant. Identifying the source of saline groundwater ingress into the local sewer system and determination of the quantity and quality of stormwater available for re-use from the township of Port Lincoln in partnership with SA Water. Assessing the potential for waste minimisation in fish processing factories and implementing waste minimisation strategies. Acting as a fulcrum for communication between all stakeholders alike holding all relevant information to keep contact up between all involved. Report writing for both government agencies and fish processors as well as an industry journal.
