    I was the data science lead in the Soltesz lab as part of a cross-institution effort to understand the mechanisms of memory. My goals are to unify and improve data storage, sharing and analysis across the four labs involved in the project. I am using Neurodata Without Borders to unify data representation across electrophysiological experiments, optical physiology experiments, and simulations. I am unifying analyses across the labs in MATLAB and python and developing them to run in parallel on high performance super-computers.

    I received my PhD from the UCSF and UC Berkeley Joint Program in Bioengineering for my research in Dr. Edward Chang's lab studying the neural control and perception of speech. With the help of neurosurgical patient volunteers, we monitored neural activity while our subjects perform linguistic tasks related to perception of language and controlling the articulators during speech. My role in the lab spanned many levels. I coordinated with the hardware company that supplies our recording equipment, providing quality control for the lab and communicating the needs and goals of the lab. I interfaced with the clinical team, helping them provide the best possible care to the patients. I developed and was responsible for the lab's shared preprocessing code. I developed features throughout my PhD to accommodate the changing needs of the lab, and I taught new members and collaborators how to use our analysis tools.
