Former Banker, Current Chairman/Co-Founder, Part-Time Mountain Biker. Since 2011 I’ve been pursuing my passion for helping treatment centers understand and implement strategies to help them survive the upheaval going through the industry.Currently, I lead an amazing team focused on bringing leading edge technology to behavioral health facilities. I’m committed to fighting the addiction epidemic we're currently facing by helping treatment centers get paid fairly for their services that are so desperately needed so that they can continue helping patients.It all started about 8 years ago when I was mountain biking, another passion of mine, with a good friend who owned a treatment facility. At the time, I was in banking, but noticed the similarities between loan applications and insurance claims.After learning about the pains of the claim process, I realized there was a need for a solution, specifically within behavioral health, to house all these tedious manual processes.Things specific to behavioral health facilities: real-time eligibility, authorizations, call tracking, transferable claim information, and all the other behavioral health nuances. Other systems were adapted from traditional medical billing processes but couldn’t handle the differences inherent in behavioral health billing., and so, Avea was born. We've learned fast, failed forward, and even spent some time servicing billing for treatment centers - it's safe to say we've come a long way.
