As the National L&D Coordinator for Hays I have a diverse and interesting role. My duties involve working with key stakeholders to plan and schedule our full suite of programmes, producing reports for senior leadership teams to demonstrate the departments ROI, and working with external partners on a number of different high-profile tech projects.

As a Learning Specialist my role was extremely varied, but at its core it was about working closely with a small team of L&D professionals, to deliver high quality training for a wide range of clients. This involved working with both internal and external stakeholders to write and deliver material whilst tackling the challenges of high volume ramps, the rapid introduction of virtual training and the fast paced nature of the contact centre world.

My job as a Customer Service Agent (CSA) involved solving hundreds of surprisingly unique requests each week, for equally unique customers. It required patience, excellent verbal communication skills and a surprising amount of problem-solving. While working as a CSA my technical ability gave me the edge, as I was able to make the most out of the technologies available to me, such as the Salesforce and Paywizard CRMs, as well as the multitude of other bespoke applications on offer. I always relished the challenge of working with the customer to provide the best outcome for both them, John Lewis and Sitel. Ask me about my favourite calls!

Working as a part time Drama Teaching Assistant for young children meant juggling a lot of plates. I was expected to keep tabs on all the students, co-ordinate communication with the parents and cover lessons for the teachers when they were unavailable. This taught me time management skills, the ability to multi task and developed my customer service skills as I would often be in charge of greeting parents and dealing with any concerns that they may have had.
