My current role as a Trainee Accountant at Jays is providing me with continuous development. I have played major roles in accounting for company year ends, quarterly VAT returns, personal tax returns and payroll. I have also been in contact with clients in order to solve queries efficiently, this allows me to gain more and more experience within my profession

It is my job to keep my team motivated to keep providing fantastic customer service whilst also making our store look great! I have become an invaluable member of the team. During the summer months when I am not studying I become a Team Leader. This helps my stores efficiency by allowing the managers focus more on store performance than having to run a shift. Even when I am not a team leader, during the year I constantly help my managers and colleagues by being able to do a lot of management procedures such as till checks, reductions and next day potentials. I am very confident that all the managers I have worked with would be happy to give a very positive reference.

I gained a summer work experience role and was an Account Manager in one of their clients’ accounts departments. This work experience was very helpful and enabled me to use my skills to complete and improve some of their procedures enormously. Working alongside IT developers I managed to make a lot of their long winded procedures automated, in order to save time and decrease human error. Some of my duties were; payroll, setting up payments to HMRC, reconciling the company’s main accounts, review of procedures and monitoring accounts e-mails.

I was responsible for making sure creditors were paid on time and correctly, debtors were chased and made payment for any outstanding invoices, I am proud to have reduced the amount owing by over 60%. Chasing credits for query invoices. Bank reconciliations, accounting admin and answering telephone queries from creditors and debtors.
