I have over 30 years of experience in Healthcare IT. I started as a programmer analyst (working on Mainframe) in MOH immediately after I graduated from NUS and proceeded to take on various roles in the IT industry in both private and public organisations in my work journey - project manager, product manager, pre-sales, consultant, business development, alliance management, IT director and CIO - always with a primary focus on healthcare. My experiences has helped to to understand and appreciate how the IT ecosystem operates and interacts. My many years of experience in healthcare helped to be navigate both healthcare and IT to achieve optimum results.Why healthcare? It is my passion. I had wanted to be a doctor but did not manage to get into the local medical school. So I studied my next favourite subject - computer science. In a later part of my work life, I met a young doctor who chose to do IT. His reason illuminated me and kept me motivated till today. "I could save thousands of lives as a practicing doctor. But if I do something right with IT, I could save millions and millions of lives."We can all do something right with IT in healthcare working together.
